Accompanied by your guide, you walk a path along the San Francisco Bay that offers different views of the bay, the Bay Bridge and islands: Treasure Island, Yerba Buena Island, Angel Island and Alcatraz.
Then a stairway on Telegraph Hill (87 m) leads you into the privacy of a residential area. The views follow one after the other to the top, where you embrace at a glance the entire bay. You visit Coit Tower to admire its remarkable murals painted in the 1930's.
After North Beach, the Italian neighborhood, you discover, between Nob Hill (115 m) and Russian Hill (90 m), terraced gardens and alleys, their charm preserved by very discreet access. Your ascension continues, and you eventually arrive at the famous crooked Lombard Street.
After a break in an art school to admire a Diego Rivera mural, some student artwork, and a last view, you descend to Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 33, where the tour ends. From there you can go to see the sea lions at Pier 39, head Downtown, or explore another area by public transport.
Your guide, Sylvie Julie, is a world traveler and has been a professional hiking guide for over 20 years. A native of Paris, she has lived in San Francisco since 2010. A passionate student of San Francisco history, she tells stories along the way about some of the famous people of the city such as the eccentric Lillie Coit, who gave her name to the tower, and Joshua Abraham Norton, the improbable "Emperor" of the U.S.
